During the September 12, 2026 meeting, Brent Eames of Eames Law Group was appointed to serve as Chair of the Northern Illinois University College of Law Board of Visitors. The Board of Visitors is comprised of distinguished alumni, industry leaders, and community friends of NIU. Current members of the Board include attorneys, members of the judiciary, and business leaders from across the country. Brent Eames was honored to be appointed to serve a two-year term as the leader of this prestigious group of alumni and friends of the law school.
The purposes of the Board of Visitors of the Northern Illinois University College of Law are to:
- Increase awareness of the college’s mission and programs within the Illinois legal community, with particular emphasis on the northern tier of the state
- Serve in an advisory capacity to the administration and the faculty in self-study and evaluation of the college and its educational programs
- Provide a linkage between the college and the Illinois legal community and develop mechanisms for the interchange of ideas between the college and the legal profession
- Assist in developing strategies for enhancing the resources and financial support of the college
- Advise the college with regard to recruitment and improvements in the areas of recruitment and retention of students and career counseling and placement
A native of DeKalb, Illinois, Brent Eames is a 2009 graduate of NIU College of Law. During law school, he received awards for the greatest contribution to the advocacy programs, as well as the greatest contribution to the College of Law community. He has served on the College of Law’s alumni council since graduation, and he is a Past President of the Northern Illinois University College of Law Alumni Council.
